Of endings and beginnings

Seems like the last few years have been milestone years for our little family.  Two years ago, Amanda graduated from High School.  A year ago, she got married...  Both MAJOR milestones, since she's our first to do both.

One of the things about only having two children is that whenever each of them achieves a milestone, it is a big deal.  For one, because they're the first, and for the other, because they're the last - the baby.

That is how it is with Jackie.  She's my baby.

At the beginning of this year, I thought I had one more entire year of Jackie in High School.  However, at the beginning of the last semester of this school year, Jackie worked out her schedule and credits and realized that she could finish High School at the end of THIS school year, as a JUNIOR!!!  YIKES!!! I was definitely NOT ready!  With that choice, our lives went into high-gear.

After a ton of hard work, extra hours staying after school, extra projects and independent study, Jackie achieved her goal.  Not only did she qualify to graduate as a Junior, she did it with a straight 'A' average. What an amazing feat for our girl.  She made the choices, she did the work, and she reached her goal.  We are so proud of her.

So, on May 29, 2014, along with 93 of her fellow students, Jackie walked across the stage and received her High School diploma from Rockwell Charter High School.  ...a full year early!!!
Way to go, Jackie!!! We are so proud of you!

So we come to the end of one chapter in our lives...the one where we are the parents of school-aged children.  Now we begin a new chapter - one where we have grown up children who are also moving into new chapters in their lives.  Here's to good things to come for all of us!
