Brace Face...

So, Thursday I got braces on my teeth for the second time in my life. Being fairly uncomfortable, and needing some tender-loving-support, I called my big sister.

"Hello, Brace-Face!"

she said...(obviously, HER caller ID works)

A few hours later, I encountered my big brother...Marc took one look at me and said...
"Hello, Brace-Face!"

What are we? 12??????

My teeth hurt, the insides of my lips and mouth are bleeding from wires, I have canker sores on my tongue and I'm moderately cranky

...but that's me, BRACE-FACE!!!

This had SO better be worth it!!!

It begins...

Last Saturday, when Amanda came home from the weekly Youth Dance, she was practically walking on air. A boy (name withheld to protect the innocent) that she has liked for quite some time FINALLY asked for her phone number . He told her that he would like to call and ask her for a date. Amanda has wanted this young man to be her first date, ever since the second she turned 16. Talk about dreams coming true.

That was Saturday...

Everyday since, though she has tried not to worry about it (have I mentioned that Amanda is a CHAMPION worrier? Second only to my big sister...LOVE YOU, Caline...); Amanda has practically jumped out of her skin every time her phone rang. As luck would have it, THE phone call finally came Thursday evening.

Kevin was driving Mandy home from basketball practice when THE call came. He reported that Mandy tried to play it cool, but was almost bouncing out of her seat. Kev even got to talk to this young man when he asked for directions to our house. To give him credit, he made a great impression on Kevin when he asked what Mandy's curfew was. He was very polite and respectful, which also went a long way towards earning "the Dad's" good graces. Let's face it, that has to be important to a young man asking a girl out on a date.

So this is what I saw when Kev and Mandy got home. My daughter, bouncing through the house, giddy with joy and a bewildered, laughing Kevin with a wry smile on his face...slightly bemused at this latest turn of events in his "baby-girl's" life.

We're moving the baseball bat to the front hall closet, closest to the front door. We'll keep you posted as the dating life of the Webster-girls begins...

A Magic Moment

Have you ever had a perfect moment in time? You know, where time itself seemed to pause to take notice? Everything stopped...the world was hushed....and you KNEW everything in your life was about to change forever?

February 6, 1988; I had just such a moment. It was late. It was dark. It was peaceful and serene there on the grounds of the Mesa, AZ LDS Temple. He asked me to be "His wife, his eternal companion, and the mother of his children". I KNEW it was coming...I knew he was going to ask... But when the moment came, time stood still. In a heartbeat, I saw all the ways in which my life would change. I saw a lifetime... no, an eternity of life, love, and living with this wonderful man who wanted to marry me. With a gulp, and my heart in my throat, I took a leap of faith and said: "Yes, I think I'd like that."

On the way home at almost midnight in downtown Mesa, we came across a woman selling flowers on the street corner. Kevin bought me the first flowers I'd ever received. A dozen long stemmed red roses.

I swear those roses stayed fresh and lovely for a month...maybe I was just looking at them through...rose-colored glasses...haha But to me, they were magic.

That weekend we took engagement photos and I got my engagement ring. It was as beautiful, sweet, and romantic as I always dreamed it would be.

Now it's 22 years later. We don't exactly look the same. But the magic is still there.

I look at this wonderful man who wanted me for his wife, eternal companion, etc. I couldn't believe how much I loved him then. I had no idea how much more I would love him, now.

Tonight we're going on our weekly "date-night". We'll be celebrating that other night when he asked, and I said 'yes'. We may not find a vendor on the corner selling magic flowers here in Lehi. But we'll bring our own magic with us and remember that other perfect moment in time.

It IS time...

I made a promise to myself when I finished the last round of HCG diet. I said I would begin again in January. I have a goal to hike to the Mt. Timpanogos Cave * Go here: www.nps.gov/tica for more information*, sometime this Spring or Summer, and I am determined to get it done.

However, life seems to be equally determined to thwart my goal.

I recently found out that I will need braces and jaw surgery in the near future. It's a LONG story, so I won't bore you with it here. The short version is that the four years I spent in braces as a kid didn't work and now if I don't do SOMETHING, I stand to lose my front teeth (the bottom ones). With all the tests, exams, exrays, and Dr's visits, Kev and I thought it best for me to wait to start dieting again. Our thought was that if I had to have jaw surgery and get my mouth wired shut (no comments on that, please. haha) dieting wouldn't be necessary.

It's been a month, and still no treatment plan (we go in for a consult about THAT, this week). So I decided to go ahead w/ the HCG. My brother, Marc is going along w/ me again. This time we are determined to continue our exercise program as well. Again, Kevin and my girls are being the best cheering section anyone could ask for!!! They TOTALLY rock!!!

I'll keep you all posted and ask for your prayers and support - once more!

Here we go AGAIN!!!
